Description
Product Overview:
Velocity Ammunition’s 8.6 Blackout is fresh on the market. Ours is a combination of Sierra Matchking .338 achieving the new spicy subsonic riffle ammo you can shoot out of whatever niche bolt gun you’ve built or 8.6 upper you’ve slapped on an AR-10 lower. As always, we’re aiming for consistent, reliable and affordable offerings. Doing that, just like with our 300 blackout, we’d like to reduce the barrier to entry and get more shooters into shooting 8.6 blackout.
Bullet: Sierra Matchking BTHP (.338 300 grain)
Overall Length: 2.760”
Muzzle Velocity: 1015.2 FPS (16” AR Upper)
Important: We have received reports of occasional light/partial primer strikes when our 8.6 Blackout ammunition is used in some Q Fix and Uintah Precision bolt-action rifles. We recommend owners of those platforms test a small batch for reliable ignition before regular use. If you experience any light strikes, reach out to the manufacturer of your rifle.
Important safety notice — Intended use: These 8.6 projectiles are optimized for accuracy and external ballistics, and are not designed to reliably expand at subsonic velocities. They are not intended, recommended, or warranted for hunting or for any application where rapid terminal expansion is required. Use at your own risk. Customers seeking ammunition for hunting should select our 350Gr “Baba Yaga” round for correct terminal performance at subsonic velocities.

Kasey Pollock –
Bought these thinking they would be a good round for deer. Used them and shot a buck at 30 yards. Bullet did not exit the deer, did not expand and I’m thankful it was a clean heart shot and that the bullet had the rotational velocity it did to stop the deer. Won’t be using these again.
Heath rider –
Kasey, thank you for sharing your experience, we appreciate your feedback. These rounds aren’t designed or marketed as hunting ammunition, so performance on game can vary compared to purpose-built expanding bullets, such as Velocity Ammunition’s 350gr Baba Yaga rounds. We’re glad to hear you were still able to make a clean, ethical shot. We also understand that you have been in contact with Velocity Ammunition, which is the best route for discussing any performance concerns directly.
